Join @NCRI_Women_Comm on International Women’s Day to pay tribute to the achievements and courage of women on this special occasion.
The story of women’s struggle for equality and freedom belongs to no single woman nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about women’s rights which is in fact human rights.
The NCRI Women’s Committee strongly believe women are the force for change and we can bring about change throughout the world only when we join together, this is why on International Women’s Day, we honor and celebrate the achievements of women all around the world.
Despite that for the past 37 years, Iranian women have been subjected to injustice, the most inhumane violence and discrimination in all areas of their lives under the banner of Islam, but yet they have never given up.
The Iranian regime hijacked the Iranian people’s revolution for democracy and freedom and from the onset of its rule founded the first Islamic caliphate in the modern world. Since then, 120,000 political dissidents (30% of which were women) have been executed and hundreds of thousands of prisoners have been severely tortured until today. Therefore, on this day, we pay homage to tens of thousands of heroic women who have been tortured and executed in their struggle against religious fascism ruling Iran.
For 37 years, Iranian women have been at the forefront of democratic struggle in Iran and lead the opposition. The National Council of Resistance of Iran which is led by a Muslim woman, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, seeks a republic based on the separation of religion and state, pluralism and peace, a non-nuclear Iran without the death penalty. This vision is found in her ten-point plan for women for the future Iran.
Today, the prime source of violence against women is Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism. Misogyny is the core of their ideology.
However, we strongly believe that women play a pivotal role in eradicating fundamentalism and extremism that have become a threat to the world today. Therefore women and men must rise up against this phenomenon.
Join us in solidarity to establish a united front of women and men against fundamentalism and for peace.
